Journey of a custom build

01

Initial consulation

Be it an email or phone call, once you've gotten in touch we'll arrange a time to sit down and have an initial consultation with you where we can discuss your dream and learn about your requirements.

03

Designs and deposit

It's time to get busy designing! Once you've booked in your build slot with a 10% deposit, we'll get to work with you to turn your build from a sheet specification to 3D renders and select your finishes. We'll also go over the spec in greater detail to ensure that your van meets your needs.

05

Testing

No build leaves our workshop until we're confident it will withstand the open road (or dirt track) with ease

02

Specification and estimate

Builds develop over time, we understand that and will always be upfront with where your build is sitting within your budget. We'll work with you to create a specification that reflects your needs.

04

Let's get building

As an Onyx customer, you'll have us on hand throughout the build process. A 60% upfront payment will kick off the build and we'll aim to have your build complete within a couple of months.

06

Keys in hand

Now it's time to start your adventures. We'll hand over your new Onyx van and give you a detailed overview of all the components in your build. We'll help you to understand how all your electrical and water systems work and how you can take care of your new Onyx van.

Knowledge base

Owning an adventure van is all about taking pride of your vehicle, and understanding that off-grid vehicles take a certain level of skill and understanding to manage the systems on board. We're here to help you understand those systems and ensure you can go off the beaten track with confidence and pride.

UK and beyond

We understand you're going to be taking your van further afield than British campsites, and we hope you'll stretch it to its limits. That's why we make sure all our builds are made from high quality components that are serviceable across Europe and beyond.

Support

At Onyx, we stand behind our work and are proud to offer a 6 month (or 10,000 km) warranty on all of our services. We understand that getting to know your new van can take time, which is why we're here to support every step of the way.

Advanced Tech

We use industry recognised components and systems in our builds. We work closely with BSPK solar to spec full Victron electrical systems ensuring you can use your van to its full potential. With ever improving LifePO4 technology, there is no need for LPG in campervans, and we take pride in installing off-grid, gas-free systems.

Cost

You can expect to pay between £40,000 and £60,000 for one of our conversions. This doesn't include the base vehicle of course. This price is based on a Mercedes Sprinter LWB, Man TGE or similar base vehicle. Whatever your budget, feel free to get in touch  and we'll work with you to help build your dream.

Chris and Heather helped us to convert our first campervan and they were wonderful to work with; they have a clear passion for vanlife and are really knowledgable, especially with van electrics, services, layout and the details that matter when you are off-grid. We couldn't be happier with the results - we love our camper and are grateful for all the tips Chris and Heather have given us, both while they were helping us with the convert, and after it was finished we were able to call them for support. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to convert!
